Lawrence Murderers Lose Appeal

The two men jailed for the murder of black teenager Stephen Lawrence have lost the first round of their attempt to challenge their convictions at the court of appeal.

Gary Dobson and David Norris were given life sentences in January for the racist murder in south-east London in 1993.

Their applications for permission to appeal have been rejected by a single judge after close consideration of the papers.

However, the pair can renew their applications before a panel of judges sitting at the Court of Appeal.
