Burnt Remains Found Beneath Car Park Fire
Police are investigation the discovery of burnt human remains found beneath a pile of burning debris in a Sainsbury’s carp park.
A police dog handler spotted the fire in the supermarket car park in Chippenham in Wilts during a routine patrol around 3 am on Tuesday morning.
The body was discovered once firefighters had extinguished the fire. It is understood the remains were too badly burnt to determine gender or age.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “It is too early to say whether this incident is suspicious but enquiries continue.
'We are asking for anyone who was in the area of the Sainsbury’s car park between midnight and 3am to come forward and speak to us.
'They may have information that will assist this enquiry. Sainsbury’s supermarket is closed and we are asking the public to avoid the area to reduce traffic congestion.”
The supermarket remained cordoned off.
