100-Year-Old Woman Dies Ten Minutes After Midnight
A pensioner whose ambition was to reach her 100th birthday died just 10 minutes into the day.
Agnes Alison McNaughtan, of Paisley in Scotland, died hours before a family party she had been planning for a decade.
Her family, who said she had deliberately stayed alive until midnight, went ahead with the centenarian’s birthday party as a mark of respect.
Her 65-year-old nephew Hugh said: "She was a remarkable lady who was still playing tennis in her 80s and driving until she was 95. And even then it's me that had to tell her to stop.
"She died at 12.10am and we are sure she deliberately clung on until after midnight."
University Blunder Gives Pupils Their Results Early
Some Scottish pupils have been able to find out their sixth year results early, after a blunder at one of the country's leading universities.
Pupils are not due to find out how they performed until August 7, but the University of St Andrews uploaded UCAS scores to its website this week for 65 students with fixed offers there.
A spokeswoman said the university "regretted" the error, which took place on Wednesday night.
It had "quickly taken action to close the loophole", she said.
British Airways Jobs May Be At Risk
The parent group of British Airways and Iberia has reported a €390m loss for the first half of June.
It warned it "will not be able to avoid job losses" but did not confirm where those would fall.

Teenager rescued from sea dies
A 15-year-old boy rescued from the sea off Norfolk has died. A lifeboat crew rescued the boy who had got into difficulties while swimming with another boy off Wells-Next-the-Sea, Norfolk. He was located by the lifeboat and was airlifted to hospital. But he later died shortly after being admitted to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Over 500 Pupils Evacuated In School Fire
More than 500 pupils were evacuated from a school in north west London when a fire broke out in the roof the building. 65 staff and 540 pupils evacuated the school on Goodson Road in Willesden when the fire alarm sounded on Tuesday afternoon. There were no reports of any injuries.

Education strategy to focus on ethnic minorities
A new national strategy launched today aims to lift the achievement of ethnic minority pupils, and will focus on raising standards for black children in school. Only 30% of all black pupils got five or more good GCSEs (grades A* to C) in 2002, compared to a national average of 51%.
