Missing Yachtsman's Sailing Companion Is Arrested

A man has been arrested over the disappearance of a British yachtsman who went missing on a round-the-world trip.

Sean Terry, 48, was sailing on the Indian Ocean between the Maldives and Madagascar when his family last heard from him.

He went missing on June 18.

Austrian Stefan Pokorny, who joined Mr Terry on board, was arrested when the 40ft yacht Finnegan arrived in the Seychelles, the BBC reported.

He steered the yacht to the island of Coetivy, off the Seychelles, a week after contact with Mr Terry was lost.

Mr Pokorny is being held in custody pending further inquiries and has not been charged with anything.

He is due to appear in court on Thursday.

British-born Mr Terry was raised in South Africa and returned to the UK to work as a quantity surveyor in Watford, Hertfordshire.

He took early retirement to sail around the world.
