Pensioner Trapped In Deckchair For Six Hours
A pensioner got stuck in her deckchair for six hours after sunbathing.
Passing firefighters rescued the 83-year-old whose bottom got trapped when the chair’s fabric ripped.
She was unable to free herself as her legs were in the air.
She got stuck at 8am yesterday on her balcony in Scarborough and spent hours crying out for help.
A fire crew who were passing her home by chance heard her distressed voice and climbed over her neighbour's property to reach her.
They freed her at about 1.50pm and paramedics treated the woman at the scene.
By this point, she had spent six hours in the blazing sunshine.
She was then taken to Scarborough District Hospital as a precautionary measure.
A North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "This was an unusual incident, but firefighters are trained for every eventuality."
The woman remains anonymous.
