18 Years For Suzanne Pilley Killer
An Edinburgh man has been given a life sentence for the murder of his ex-lover and work colleague.
49-year-old David Gilroy must serve a minimum of 18 years in jail for killing 38-year-old bookkeeper Suzanne Pilley.
Despite denying the charge Gilroy, a married man, was found guilty of his former lover's murder last month.
A major hunt was undertaken when Ms Pilley disappeared on 2 May 2010. She had set off for work in Edinburgh, but never made it to her desk.
Prosecutors believe Gilroy killed her in the basement of the building where they worked in Thistle Street and buried her the next day more than 100 miles away in the forests of Argyll.
Her body has never been found.
In a UK first, the sentencing at the High Court in Edinburgh was filmed for broadcast on the same day.
