Man Killed Unlawfully In Arson Attack

An inquest has ruled that a convicted paedophile, who was killed in a suspected arson attack on his flat, was unlawfully killed.

Worcester man Andrew Heath was found dead at his flat in Warndon, on 14 December last year.

The inquest, held today, has revealed the fire was started deliberately in a wheelie bin pushed against the flat's front door.

Last week police revealed that the 52-year-old deceased was a convicted paedophile and said rumours spreading round the area may have hampered their inquiry.

Det Ch Insp Paul Williamson said: "I have taken the decision to make public details of previous offences committed by Andrew Heath because it may have some bearing on our inquiries."

A total of 10 people have been arrested over his death in the fire at his Chedworth Close home and have been released on bail.

Police have issued a reward of £20,000 for information leading to finding Mr Heath's killer and also hope that by releasing the information regarding Mr Heath's previous offences that they may find his killer.

Mr Williamson concluded: "Whatever Mr Heath did in his past, he died in a terrible way and his family have been left in limbo not knowing what happened to him."
