UK's Only Dedicated Teenage Rehab Unit Opens In London
A new early intervention clinic for troubled teenagers has opened this week in London, which aims to address the lack of specialist care available specifically for young people in the UK. Since the closure of the Middlegate Lodge facility in 2010, the UK has been without a dedicated rehab facility for children.
The AlchemyClinic is a ten bed residential therapeutic unit providing help for what many youth workers and parents are terming a ‘lost generation’ of teenage alcoholics, drug users and computer addicts. Alchemy will provide specialist care for 13 to 18 year olds, addressing some of the very specific behavioural problems facing young people today. The Alchemy Model is
specifically designed to address the destructive behaviours unique to young people and to intervene early, before consequences get out of hand.
Drug Use Falling Among Scots
The Scottish Government has welcomed new statistics that show illicit drug use in Scotland is continuing to decrease.
Figures published today show that the number of adults who reported that they had used any illicit drug in the last year in 2010/11 is 6.6 per cent – a fall compared to 7.2 per cent in 2009/10 and 7.6 per cent in 2008/09.
The figures, published in the Scottish Crime and Justice Survey 2010/11 Drug Use report, also reveal that the number of adults who reported using drugs in the last month has fallen to 3.5 per cent in 2010/11, compared with 4.2 per cent in 2009/10 and 4.4 per cent in 2008/09.
Help At Hand For Hay Fever Sufferers
With the pollen season fast approaching, pollen forecasts are now available on the Met Office website.
The pollen forecast, sponsored by Benadryl, uses our latest weather forecast information and combine this with pollen readings from across the UK. There are millions of hay fever sufferers across the UK, and the Met Office forecasts provide vital information to help reduce the impact pollen has on their health.
UK Pollen Network Manager at the Met Office, Yolanda Clewlow said: "Variable weather conditions across the country mean that levels of pollen often vary greatly from day to day, so it’s important that hay fever sufferer stay up to date with the latest forecast."
