UK Hostage Freed In Somalia

A British woman kidnapped during a raid in which her husband was killed has been freed after six months.

Judith Tebbutt, 56, was released after a ransom was raised by her family and paid to her captors.

Mrs Tebbutt was seized on 11 September last year from Kiwayu Safari Village, a luxury resort on a deserted stretch of Kenyan coastline, comprised of thatched cottages on the beach. Her husband was shot and killed during the raid by 6 men.

As she left Somalia, on a flight to Nairobi, she smiled and told reporters she was glad to be safe.

Her son is expected to be in Nairobi to meet her off the plane. She will be in the care of officials from the British embassy before being flown back to the UK.
