Rebekah Brooks Arrested

It has been revealed one of the six people arrested this morning by Operation Weeting was former Sun editor Rebekah Brooks.

Arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice Brooks’ husband was also one of those arrested.

The arrests happened this morning between 5-7am. The homes of those arrested are currently being searched by police.

Man Charged With Murder Of Teen Girls

A 19-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Kimberly Frank and Samantha Sykes.

Ahmad Otak has also been accused of kidnap and false imprisonment of the teenagers who were found dead from fatal knife wounds in Wakefield on Saturday.

Otak is due before Wakefield Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Elderly Woman Treated After Allegedly Being Held Captive

An elderly woman allegedly held captive for more than 24 hours by a man armed with a knife inside her home is being medically assessed.

The 79-year-old is not believed to be seriously injured and was being treated at the scene in Oldbury, West Midlands.

A 40-year-old man came out of the property just after 11am on Monday, police said.

He has been arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment and has been taken to a police station.

Officers were called to the property shortly after 7am on Sunday, after concerns for the woman's welfare were raised.

Wanted Man Arrested In London
The man wanted in connection with the murder of a 66-year-old man who intervened during a robbery, has been arrested. Ian John McLoughlin, 55, was arrested in London at around 01:00. He was wanted on suspicion of murder and robbery. Airports and ports had been put on alert as police hinted for McLoughlin.

Peterborough Torso Identified By Police
Police investigating the discovery of a female torso in a suitcase at a property in Peterborough have identified the victim. The torso has been identified as Ramute Butkiene, a 42-year-old Lithuanian woman, who worked as an agency worker in the Peterborough area.

Police Dig Up Pub Patio In Search For Missing Landlady
Police investigating the disappearance of a landlady in Cambridgeshire in 1997 are digging up the patio of her former pub. Deborah Steel, 37, was landlady of the Royal Standard in Ely, Cambridgeshire, when she disappeared on 28 December 1997. Police have said that Ms Steel's disappearance is now being treated as a murder investigation.

Teenager Arrested Over Rape Of 12-Year-Old Girl
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the rape of 12-year-old girl in east London. Three males lead the girl to a "secluded" end of a street in Walthamstow at around 00:15 on Saturday before two of them attacked her, held her down and raped her.

Seven Arrested On Suspicion Of Terrorist Fundraising
Seven people have been arrested on suspicion of terrorist financing offences, according to the Metropolitan Police. They were arrested at four separate addresses in London, Cardiff and Coventry at approximately 6am on suspicion of being concerned in the funding of a terrorist organisation, and laundering the proceeds of crime for that purpose.
