Six Arrested In Hacking Investigations

Metropolitan police investigating phone hacking have arrested six people.

Five men and one woman were arrested on suspicion of trying perverting the course of justice early on Tuesday morning in London, Oxfordshire, Hampshire and Hertfordshire by officers fro Operation Weeting.

A spokesman said the arrests were not as a result of information supplied by News Corps but that: "A number of addresses connected to the arrests are being searched.

"Today's operation follows consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service."

The six arrests are the biggest single swoop made by Met officers in its ongoing operation into alleged phone hacking. 23 people have so far been held under Operation Weeting with 2 released without charge.

Woman Arrested In Phone Hacking Operation
A 47-year-old woman, understood to be the PA of ex-News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks, has been arrested in Essex investigating the phone hacking scandal. Scotland Yard confirmed the woman was arrested at around 06.55am this morning and is currently in custody on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Further Six Arrested In No Deal Operation In Birmingham
A further six people have been arrested as part of an ongoing operation targeting suspected drug dealers in Birmingham. Police carried out a series of dawn raids on Thursday 24 September, arresting a 17-year-old man, two 19-year-olds and three men aged 21, 26 and 47.

Met Officer Arrested In Operation Elveden Investigation
A serving police officer has been arrested in connection with allegations of illegal payments made by by journalists to public officials. The 50-year-old Metropolitan Police officer was arrested at his home in the Wimbledon area of London at 06:00 on Tuesday morning.

Six Arrested In Anti-Terror Raids Across London
Five men and a woman have been arrested in London on suspicion of terrorism offences as part of an intelligence-led operation involving MI5. The six, aged between 18 and 30, were arrested during a series of raids. As a result eight homes in west, east and north London and one business are being searched.
