Ryan Giggs Damages Claim Thrown Out
Ryan Giggs has lost his damages claim against the Sun newspaper and Imogen Thomas at the High Court.
Manchester United and Wales footballer received an injunction in April 2011 after an article in the paper reported about an unnamed player's alleged affair with the model and former Miss Wales.
Earlier this month the High Court heard that Mr Giggs consented to being named as the footballer behind the injunction. Social networks had identified him and the newspaper denied the breach of privacy claims.
Giggs sought damages for distress and breach of human rights legislation.
Mr Giggs had been granted the injunction on the basis that Ms Thomas had appeared to have been trying to blackmail him but in December 2011 he accepted that this was not the case.
Mr Justice Tugendhat threw out the case on Friday.
