Second Body Found In Suspected 'Burglary Gone Wrong'
Police investigating the murder of an elderly woman, thought to be killed during a burglary, have found a second body.
A 43-year-old man has been arrested by Merseyside Police after they discovered a woman’s body on Tuesday evening in a house on Lonsdale Road in Southport. Now the body of a second woman has been found at another property.
"As a result of further inquiries,” said police, “a second body has been recovered at an address in Birch Street, Southport… The cause of death has yet to be established. Home Office postmortems will be carried out later today."
Formal identification has yet to be made but the first victim has been named as Margaret Biddolph. She had lived in the house on Lonsdale Road for 36 years and is thought to be the victim of a “burglary gone wrong”.
"While we are at the early stages of the murder inquiry, we are investigating a possible connection with a burglar.” said Detective Chief Inspector John Roberts.
Door-to-door inquiries are continuing with police urging anyone with information to come forward, "No matter how small that piece of information may seem, it could be vital to our investigation."
Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 0800 230 0600 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
