Terry Stripped Of Captaincy Over Race Case
John Terry is to be stripped of the England captaincy for a second time as the racism investigation involving the Chelsea skipper and QPR defender Anton Ferdinand, continues.
Terry's trial date for his alleged offence has been adjourned until after the Euro 2012 tournament this summer, meaning that he would be free to play if Capello wished to include him in the squad.
However, Clive Efford, Labour's Shadow Sport Minister, has said that the uncertainty and delays surrounding the investigation was helping no one.
"It would be better for everybody, including John Terry, if the case was heard before Euro 2012 begins," Mr Efford said.
He added: "Prejudice has no place in our society and the law of the land must apply beyond the touchlines of sports pitches, and so it is right that the case is heard properly and in full.
“But, if the FA and Capello feel that there is a danger that going into the championships with this matter unresolved could disrupt the England camp they should take the best course of action for English football."
