Decapitated Stockport Man Named
The burned, shot and decapitated body of a man found in Stockport on Thursday has been identified as 32-year-old John Grainger.
Police were called to Wellington Street in Sockport on at 5.10am on Thursday after fire crews had extinguished a blaze on a verge opposite Gala Casino and discovered a man's body.
A Home Office post mortem is ongoing to determine the exact cause of death, but it is believed the man suffered from a shotgun wound to his head and another blunt force head injury.
Two men, aged 29 and 31, who had been arrested on suspicion of possessing shotgun cartridges prior to the discovery of the body were later arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody for questioning.
Superintendent Pete Matthews from Greater Manchester Police's Stockport division said: "Our thoughts are with John's family at this tragic time, as they try to come to terms with the loss of their loved one.
"We have a team of dedicated detectives who are working hard to establish the exact circumstances surrounding John's death, so we can provide his family with some much-needed answers.
"We will be continuing with our inquiries and speaking to local residents. We also have extra officers in the area to offer reassurance and assist with the investigation.
"People in the community are in shock at what has happened and I would encourage anyone with any information to contact the police."

Wanted Man Arrested In London
The man wanted in connection with the murder of a 66-year-old man who intervened during a robbery, has been arrested. Ian John McLoughlin, 55, was arrested in London at around 01:00. He was wanted on suspicion of murder and robbery. Airports and ports had been put on alert as police hinted for McLoughlin.

Investigation Launched Into Hotel Body Find
A murder investigation has been launched following the discovery of a woman's body in a Hull hotel room. Police said they were called to the Ibis hotel on Osborne Street at 13:00 on Sunday, where they discovered the body of a woman. She is yet t be identified.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.
