18 Years For Robber Who Dressed As Fireman
One of a group of armed robbers who posed as fire-fighters to hold up premises across north and east London has been jailed for 18 years.
According to the Metropolitan Police (Met) on Monday, Darren Lloyd, 36, of Pettits Road, Dagenham, faced trial after pleading not guilty but was convicted at the Old Bailey on December 1 of a number of conspiracy to rob offences. He was sentenced on Friday.
Six other men who had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rob and firearms offences – that included an ex-Met officer - will be sentenced on Friday 27 January.
They are Gary Griffiths, an ex-Met police officer, 42, of Babbington Road, Dagenham;
Jason Stacey, 38, of Chitty's Lane, Dagenham; Joshua McEvilly, 29, of Hare Hall Lane, Romford; Ben Garforth, 20, of Chadwell Heath Lane, Dagenham; Frank Nesbitt, 20 of Mildmay Road, Romford; and Peter Henderson, 29, of Lymington Road, Dagenham.
An eighth man, Russell Williams, a fire-fighter, 39, of Bury Green Road, Cheshunt, had previously pleaded guilty to assisting an offender and will also be sentenced on Friday 27 January.
Weapons including handguns, knives and crowbars were used during the crimes and more than £200,000 stolen over nine months by the offenders.

Witness Appeal Following Attack On Cyclists In Dagenham
Police have appealed for witnesses after an unprovoked attack on two men in Dagenham on Wednesday, 22 July. It is understood that two 19-year-old men were riding bicycles on Dunkeld Road at about 23:30 when they were attacked by the occupants of a black Vauxhall Corsa. Police said that it appears the attack was "completely unprovoked".

Girl, 13, Raped In Dagenham
Police in London are appealing for witnesses after a 13-year-old girl was raped. The attack happened at 9pm on Saturday 30 November as the girl was walking home from Becontree Avenue. Met Police said she was grabbed from behind and dragged on to a grassed area in Eleanor Gardens before being sexually assaulted.
