UK Economic Growth Exceeds Expectation
The UK economy has fared better in the third quarter of the year than expected growing by 0.6% between July and September. Official figures from the Government found that the level of growth exceeded their previous estimates of 0.5%. According to the findings by the Office of National Statistics, growth was driven by strong performance in the service sector and construction. However, the estimate for the second quarter of the year was revised down from 0.1% to zero by the ONS. The office also said the UK's current account deficit in the same period was £15.2bn, the highest on record.

The personal details and photographs of 66 people jailed in connection with the summer riots in London have been published by the Metropolitan Police (Met). The Met said it had issued the names of those convicted of offences such as violent disorder, burglary and handling stolen goods, while images of them have been published on the force's Flickr page. The announcement comes four months after the August incidents where almost 3,500 arrests were made.Det Supt Robin Bhairam said: "My thanks go out to all of those members of the public who have come forward and named those involved in these sickening acts of violence."
Average House Price Drops Slightly On Year
Statistics from the Land Registry have revealed the average price of houses have dropped slightly in 2011. The average price paid for a property in England and Wales in 2011 was £161,727, compared to £164,916 last year. Average prices by property type are now £255,788 for a detached dwelling, £153,158 for that of a semi-detached, £122,867 for a terraced property and £150,949 for a flat. Meanwhile, the most expensive property sold in England and Wales in 2011 was for £19.25 million for a detached house in Hampstead, north London. The cheapest property sold in England and Wales in 2011 was for £16,000 for a terraced house in Middlesbrough.

House Prices Continue To Fall
The North East of England has experienced the greatest annual price fall in house value as the March data from Land Registry's House Price Index revealed an annual price decrease of 2.3% which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £160,996. The monthly change from February to March is a decrease of 1.1%.

House Prices Take September Dip
Data from Land Registry's House Price Index has revealed an annual price decrease of 2.6%. The average property value in England and Wales is now £162,109, representing a monthly change from August to September of 0.3% down. This continues the negative monthly price change seen in August of -0.1%.

Property Price Recovery By 2011: NHF
It will be two years before house prices begin to recover, it has been predicted. The National Housing Federation forecasts that prices in England will fall this year and next before recovering, It expects prices to fall 12.2% in 2009 and 4.6% next year, before stabilising in 2011 with a 1.1% rise and continuing to climb in the following years.

England & Wales House Prices Rising
Property values have stabilised and last month even showed a small rise - with London houses topping the poll. The July data from Land Registry's flagship House Price Index shows an annual price increase of 6.7%, which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £166,798. The monthly change from June to July is an increase of 0.4%.

Britain's house prices have tumbled by another 3% this year according to official figures published on Monday morning. The October data from Land Registry's flagship House Price Index showed an annual price decrease of 3.2%, which takes the average property value in England and Wales to £159,999.
