Wikileaks' Assange Granted Right To Appeal

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been granted the right to appeal against extradition to Sweden over alleged sex crimes. Britain's Supreme Court said on Friday it had granted permission for the 40-year-old Australian to appeal the earlier decision that would see him tried for alleged sexual assault and rape. Swedish authorities want to question Assange - whose Wikileak's site published thousands of US confidential government emails - over the accusations of two female former WikiLeaks volunteers in August 2010. Assange, who has been living in Britain since he was detained on a European arrest warrant in December last year, denies wrongdoing and has been fighting a legal battle to avoid being sent back to Sweden.

An appeal for witnesses has been launched after a spate of robberies in Newcastle involving thieves stealing exhausts.
