Newcastle Appeal For 'Racist' Away Fan

Police are appealing for information to trace a man who is suspected of shouting racist comments at a football match.

It happened during the Newcastle United v Everton football match on November 5, 2011, in the away section.

The man is described as being white, aged between 50 and 60 years old, about 5ft 9 or 10ins tall of stocky build, almost white hair with a quiff at the front and a clean shaven face. He was wearing a white t-shirt, dark-coloured bomber jacket and black plimsoles.

According to witnesses, he was sitting in level seven, row h, seat 541 and it's believed he goes by the name of 'Mick the sparky'.

PC Steve Fairless said: "He shouted out racial comments during the first half of the match which has caused offence to other away supporters sitting near the man.

"We need to find out who he is so we can speak to him about the allegations. I'd urge him or anyone who knows him to come forward."
