Elderly Man Arrested In Gun Find
A 75-year-old man has been arrested after two firearms were recovered in a raid in Walthamstow, police have said.
Officers from the Central Task Force on Tuesday said that at 08.30 on Monday morning officers working on a proactive operation tackling gun crime executed a search warrant at an address in Livingstone Road.
During the search officers entered the garage and found a semi automatic handgun and a revolver.
Further searches also uncovered a substantial amount of what it believed to be crack cocaine and cannabis.
The 75-year-old man was been arrested and is currently in custody at an east London police station.
Detective Inspector Colin Stephenson said: "The Met's [Metropolitan Police Service] Central Task Force continues to support boroughs in the drive to remove guns and drugs from the streets of London.
"This is one of many successes and has resulted in two potential lethal firearms and a substantial amount of drugs being taken of the streets of London."
Det Inspector Stephenson urged anyone who has information about firearms or drugs in their community to contact police.
