Ambulance Service Apologise For Arriving To Collect Man, Dead Four Years

Apologies have been made after paramedics in the East Midlands called to a house to collect a man who had died four years ago.

According to the BBC the East Midlands Ambulance service was dispatched to the former home of George Keeley, 72, who died in hospital in February 2008.

A personal apology was made by the ambulance service to Mr Keeley’s widow who was "shocked" by the arrival of paramedics at her home.

Mrs Keeley told the BBC: "I told them it was not possible as he had passed away in 2008.

"He just said 'Oh, all right then,' and began to walk away but I went after him and said 'I want some answers!'."

Mrs Keeley went on to say it had "totally brought back memories" of events surrounding her husband's death.

The mistake has been traced to a clerical error.

This news comes at a time when the working hours of paramedics are being scrutinised.

Many paramedics are working up to 25-hour shifts. While many do not receive the 11 hour break required after working for 16 hours.
