UK Supermarkets 'Misleading' Customers

Four of the UK’s leading supermarkets could be at risk of prosecution over misleading pricing practices, so said a Panoroma programme aired on BBC.

Pricing tactics used by Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and Morrisons could potentially be illegal.

During the programme investigative journalist Sophie Raworth went to supermarkets to point out the mistakes and misleading claims.

She found 17 mistakes across these supermarkets: for example offers advertised “as bigger pack, better value” were in fact worse value.

The programme did not feel that this was just the occasional mishap, here and there, but rather that there were repeated examples and with this a ground for prosecution.

All four of the big supermarkets deny misleading or deceiving customers.
