Job Losses Loom As Another RBS Closure Announced

According to Unite union nearly 500 jobs will be lost when the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) closes its site at Bristol.

The closure, which will see 440 staff lose their jobs, comes as part of the cuts announced last year when the bank revealed that up to 3,000 jobs would be lost.

Unite urged the RBS to reconsider the closure, warning that it would "devastate" the local area.

This will be the second site to close with the Plymouth site already marked for closure.

David Fleming, from the union, told the BBC: "Unite has expressed to the Royal Bank of Scotland its frustration about the bank's decision to close its site in Bristol and also make another 440 staff cuts from its customer support operations.

"The Aztec West site is the second site closure announced by RBS in the South West, as the Plymouth site is also closing."
