NTC Deny Army Involvement In Gadaffi Killing
The transitional Government in Libya have denied their revolutionary forces were involved in the killing of the countries former dictator, Muammar Gadaffi.
Responding to outcry over Gadaffi's capture and treatment, which saw a number of harrowing videos showing the dictators bloody final moments, the National Transitional Council issued a statement saying they "We had already launched an investigation. We have issued a code of ethics in handling of prisoners of war".
"I am sure that was an individual act and not an act of revolutionaries or the national army. Whoever is responsible for that [Gaddafi's killing] will be judged and given a fair trial."
The response comes after allegations emerged on Thursday that Gadaffi had been seriously sexually assaulted at the time of his capture by rebels.
Also on Friday, international prosecutors have said they had made "informal contact" with Saif al-Islam, Gadaffi's only living son.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) said intermediaries had been used
in indirect talks with Saif al-Islam. Prosecutors said the court had made it clear to Gaddafi's son, who is wanted for crimes against humanity, that he was innocent until proven guilty.
Saif al-Islam, who was expected to be the successor to his father, has been in hiding for a number of months.
Recent reports claimed he was in a convoy heading toward Libya's desert border with Niger, where other Gaddafi allies have fled.
