Met Office Issue South East Weather Warning
The Met Office has issued an alert for the southeast of England, predicting heavy rains for the region on Wednesday, posing a risk of flooding.
According to meteorologists, heavy and thundery rain is likely to cross the English Channel to affect parts of southern England before spreading northwards to affect southeast Wales and southern, central and eastern England on Tuesday.
A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: "The rainfall will bring a low risk of surface water flooding in parts of south-eastern and central England from the early hours of Tuesday morning, particularly in towns and cities.
However, he also added: "The forecast risk of flooding across England and Wales today [Tuesday] and on Wednesday is very low."
Ironically, according to the Environment Agency, East Anglia is currently considered in a state of drought and torrential rain predicted during Tuesday morning rush hour did not occur.
Rainfall in July had helped stabilise water resources but wasn't enough to end the summer's long drought, leaving the environment and farmers still affected.
The predicted heavy rains, although posing a "low risk" of flooding, could simultaneously prove vital for a number of farms and agriculture based industry in the area.
