Fatally Tasered Barrow Man Named

A man has died after being Tasered by police in Barrow, Cumbria.

Officers were called to Hartingdon Street around 6:30pm on Tuesday, following reports of a disturbance.

They arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of causing criminal damage and, during the arrest, a Taser was used. The man has now been named locally as Dale Burns.

A spokesperson for Cumbria police said: "The man became unwell following the arrest and was taken to Furness General Hospital by officers.

"At around 9pm, the man was pronounced dead."

The incident has now been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

Amnesty International has also expressed concerns over the wider use of Tasers following the incident.

Wanted Man Arrested In London
The man wanted in connection with the murder of a 66-year-old man who intervened during a robbery, has been arrested. Ian John McLoughlin, 55, was arrested in London at around 01:00. He was wanted on suspicion of murder and robbery. Airports and ports had been put on alert as police hinted for McLoughlin.

Police Shoot Man Following Stabbing Incident In Hersden
A man has been shot by police after being called to attend an incident in Hersden where a woman was stabbed. Police initially attended the scene at around 11.20pm on Sunday followed by firearms officers and police negotiators. The man and woman, who are members of the same family, are both in a critical condition in hospital.

Armed police in Cornwall have shot dead a man after they were called to a 'domestic incident' an isolated address in the Duchy. Following what police described as "threats of violence," armed officers were sent to Lewannick near Launceston at about 9pm on Monday May 3.
