London Tower Block Blaze Man 'Critical'
A man is in a critical condition following a fire at a block of flats in Wandsworth, south London.
The fire service were called to the blaze at the 15-storey block in Linstead Way around 12.30am on Friday. It is understood that the fire broke out on the ninth floor of the tower block.
Around 150 people were evacuated as fire crews tackled the blaze.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed that a man in his 40s was taken to hospital, suffering from smoke inhalation and was in a critical condition.
It has also been confirmed that the fire is not linked to the recent disturbances in London.

Heroic Tyne Firemen Honoured
Two Tyne and Wear firefighters are to be recognised for their bravery at a special ceremony today. Andrew Nelson and Allan Richardson will be presented with the Chief Fire Officer's Commendations for brave and meritorious conduct after saving a man's life. The men took part in a dramatic rescue in the early hours of 4 February.

Firefighters launch four-day strike
More than 1,000 firefighters across Merseyside have begun a four-day strike in protest over planned job cuts. Another four-day stoppage is scheduled to begin two hours after the first one ends.

Appeal After Man Found In Burning Car
Police are appealing for information concerning the death of a man found in a burning car. Officers were called to reports of a car on fire at Mowlem Trading Estate, near to Leeside Road, N17, shortly after 1:00am on 17 December 2008. The London Fire Brigade were in attendance extinguishing the fire when they discovered a person inside.

Residents Evacuated After Crane Collapse
A 200ft crane has collapsed through the roof of a Liverpool city centre apartment block, forcing the evacuation of the building. The crash happened at 12.05pm in Tabley Street, behind Park Lane, on the outskirts of the city. It is understood the man driving the 100 tonne crane was thrown from the cab on impact. His condition is unknown.

An emergency council motion is to call for a public inquiry into a fire in a south London tower block that killed six people. Three woman and three children - one of whom was only weeks old - died in the blaze at Lakanal House, in the Sceaux Gardens Estate in Camberwell.
