Two Arrested Over Murder In Bermondsey

Detectives have arrested two men in connection with the murder of Vitalijs Janovics in Bermondsey.

Both 18-year-old men were detained on suspicion of murder and are currently in custody at a south London police station.

Police and London Ambulance Service were called around 1.10am on Friday 22 July to reports of an injured man in Jamaica Road in south east London.

The man was taken by ambulance to Kings College Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

He was later identified as Vitalijs Janovics, 38, of Long Lane.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a single stab wound to the heart.

At this early stage officers believe Mr Janovics was stabbed in and around the area of a bus stop on Jamaica Road near Bermondsey Underground station.
