Murdochs In Hot-seat Over Hacking

Rupert Murdoch and his son James are facing scrutiny by MPs over their knowledge of phone hacking at the News Of The World.

The father and son chiefs are appearing before the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee.

This is the first time Rupert Murdoch has been questioned by MPs during his 40-year career in the UK.

It is anticipated the media mogul will apologise to the victims of the hacking scandal, including murder victim Milly Dowler's family.

James Murdoch will also 'take the stand' to answer questions.

The Murdochs had originally declined to meet with the committee but later agreed when they were issued with a summons.

The News Corp duo will be questioned about their knowledge over phone hacking claims at the top Sunday newspaper, which was closed down last weekend.

It is expected they will also be questioned over alleged payments to police by News of the World journalists and out-of-court settlements paid to phone hacking victims.

Later today Rebekah Brooks, the former News International Chief Executive, will be also be questioned by the committee.
