Lib Dems Suffer At The Polls
After taking a punishment at the polls in the English local elections, Nick Clegg has said his party is being blamed for coalition spending cuts.
So far the votes indicate almost a fifty percent cut of Lib Dem councillors, with the majority of lost seats in northern cities. The Conservative vote is standing strong.
With Labour losing seats across Scotland, the Scottish National Party are gearing up to be the first party ever to win a majority in the Scottish Parliament.
However Labour is leading the way in the Welsh Assembly and on English councils.
The Lib Dem leader has vowed to redouble efforts while the Prime Minister said the Conservatives and the Lib Dems would "continue to work together in the national interest".
David Cameron added that the Conservatives had "fought a strong campaign, based on sorting out the mess left by Labour" and that the coalition government would "work for the full five years" of this parliament.
