Man In Court Over HMS Astute Shooting
A sailor based on a nuclear submarine has appeared in court over a deadly shooting onboard the HMS Astute on Friday.
Able Seaman Ryan Samuel Donovan, 22, has been charged with murder and three counts of attempted murder.
He was remanded in custody after appearing at the city's magistrates court.
While the vessel was docked in Southampton on 8 April, Lt Cdr Ian Molyneux, 36, of Wigan, was fatally shot.
Lt Cdr Christopher Hodge, was also shot and remains in hospital.
Hampshire police were alerted to the incident around noon.
Donovan has also been charged with the attempted murders of Petty Officer Christopher Brown, 36, Chief Petty Officer David McCoy, 37, and Lt Cdr Hodge, 45.
He is due to appear again at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday.

Man remanded over Pc shooting
A man has been remanded in custody charged with the attempted murder of a police officer in Wolverhampton. Pc Geoff King, 33, was on plain-clothes duty, when he was shot twice in the shoulder on Saturday night in the city centre. He remains in hospital after having surgery on his left shoulder.

University gunman was 'disturbed loner'
The gunman who shot dead 32 people at a US college has been described as a loner, whose college work was "disturbing". Cho Seung-Hui, a 23-year-old from South Korea, who had been resident in the US since 1992, was an English student at Virginia Tech who lived on campus.

Raoul Moat 'Accomplices' Appear In Court
Two alleged accomplices of Raoul Moat have appeared at Newcastle Crown Court charged with conspiracy to murder. Karl Ness, 26, from Dudley, North Tyneside and Qhuram Awan, 23, from Blyth, Northumberland were also charged with possessing a firearm with intent.

Abu Hamza remanded in custody
The radical Muslim cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri has been remanded in custody at Bow Street Magistrates Court today. Abu Hamza, who faces a total of nine charges, appeared by videolink from Belmarsh prison. He was remanded in prison until July 23. The 46-year-old was arrested on May 27 on an extradition warrant served by the US government.
