Hammersmith Murder Victim Named

Police have named the victim of a murder in Hammersmith last week.

The victim was 29-year-old Piotr Maculewicz, a Polish national.

Around 7.15pm on Friday 11 March, police were called to a man unconscious in the forecourt area of Sulgrave Gardens, Sulgrave Road West London.

Officer and the ambulance service attended but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem at Fulham Mortuary on 13 March did not establish a formal cause of death and police await results from further tests.

An incident room has opened at Barnes under DCI Howard Groves of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command.

DCI Groves said: "We have established that prior to being found Mr Maculewicz was in a lock up off the forecourt area of Sulgrave Gardens, and there may have been a fight.

"There would have been people coming and going at the time of the incident. The area is overlooked by a number flats and I am sure there are people who may have witnessed what happened and I am encouraging those people to contact the incident room."

Two men were arrested in connection with the inquiry and were taken to separate west London police stations. Both were later bailed to return in May pending further inquiries.
