Appeal Launched Following Fatal Traffic Collision

Police in Newham are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal road traffic collision in Barking Road, in east London.

On Sunday 19 December 2010, around 10.30pm a man was in collision with a car outside The Village wine bar in Barking Road.

Police, London Ambulance Service and HEMS attended the scene.

The 50-year-old victim suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. He later died at the hospital on Christmas day.

He has since been identified as Manoko Bolangi, 50, of Canning Town.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen Mr Bolangi shortly before the incident, in particular anyone who may have been travelling on the no. 5, 115, 330 or 147 bus. They would also like to hear from anyone who knew or saw Mr Bolangi in the local area on previous occasions and may be able to assist with this investigation.

Investigating Officer, Detective Constable Lisa Farr, said: "We are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. We would like to talk to anyone who was a passenger on the busses mentioned and in particular the bus drivers. They may have vital information which could help us."

Life Imprisonment For Girlfriend Murder
A man who brutally attacked and stabbed his girlfriend 57 times, has been sentenced to life imprisonment. Zakaria Mohamed, 29, unemployed and formerly of Inville Road, London SE17 was ordered to serve a minimum of 26 years imprisonment for the murder of Amina Adan.

Four Arrested Over London 'Car-Jack' Killing
Detectives investigating a car-jacking incident in London that led to the death of a 32-year-old man have arrested four males. The victim, Harjinder Singh Bhurji, of Highbury Gardens, Stoneleigh Road, Ilford, died from a chest wound after being stabbed in his car.

Road Safety Scheme Targeting Key Junctions Across London
Traffic police have been targeting offenders at 166 key junctions during rush hour across London in an effort to raise road safety awareness. Under the campaign officers issued some 150 fixed penalty notices on Monday, with the main offences being use of a mobile phone while driving or running a red light.
