Police Challenge Youngsters To Make A Difference
This month for the first time Camden Police officers will join Islington officers in encouraging young people to start community projects as part of the Safer Neighbourhoods Annual Challenge (SNAC). The SNAC 2011 was launched by Choice FM DJ Abrantee, police officers from both boroughs, and a group of young students at Maria Fidelis School in Camden. As part of the SNAC, which runs from February 2011 to the end of May 2011, groups of young people are asked to identify issues in their communities, come up with problem solving ideas and then implement those solutions. In the summer each project will be judged by a panel and prizes are awarded to the projects which have had the greatest impact on their community. For the first time schools and youth groups in Camden will now be able to come up with ideas and organise their projects with funding and support from Safer Neighbourhoods officers. In June 2011 officers will hold an awards ceremony which has in the past been hosted by Choice FM presenters and attracted celebrities Myleene Klass and Beverley Knight.
