Appeal Launched Over Hendon Bus Assault

Police have released images and are appealing for witnesses after an assault on a young mother on 17th January in Hendon.

The 23-year-old victim was on the 83 bus from Hendon Central to Ealing Hospital at 4.20pm that day, when a 20-25 year old black man and an 18-22 year old white woman boarded the bus with a pram at Vivian Avenue.

The victim moved her own pram out of the way to enable the couple to get theirs into the pram bay, but when she tried to put her own pram back afterwards, the female suspect spat in the victim's face.

The victim complained about this, at which point the male suspect attacked her, grabbing her hair and beating her head against a metal bar, before throwing her off the bus and knocking her to the ground.

The attack happened in front of the victim's young daughter on a crowded bus on the lower deck.

The victim suffered a cut to the ear and bruising to the head.

Sergeant Brad Crossley of Barnet borough said: "The bus was very crowded at the time of this attack, and we are appealing for any of those people on the bus to come to us with further information.”
