Cricketers To Be Formally Charged
Three Pakistan cricketers are to face charges over alleged spot fixing during the fourth Test against England at Lord's last August.
Former captain Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir stand accused of conspiracy to cheat, and conspiracy to obtain and accept corrupt payments.
It is expected that agent, Mazhar Majeed, will also be charged.
The developments follow claims that players accepted money to bowl no-balls during the test match.
Mr Majeed is to appear in court on March 17. The three cricketers will appear at a later date.
The Crown Prosecution Service says the men have been asked to return to the UK voluntarily but will seek their extradition if they refuse.
The spot fixing investigation was opened after allegations were made in a UK newspaper.
Upon hearing the claims, the International Cricket Council suspended the players, who deny accusations.
An ICC tribunal in Doha are planning to announce whether the players will face any sanctions on Saturday.
