Body Of Michaela McAreavey Arrives Home
The body of Michaela McAreavey has now arrived home to Northern Ireland.
Members of the Harte and McAreavey families met with the plane carrying her body at George Best Belfast City Airport.
Michaela, 27, the daughter of Tyrone Gaelic Football Manager Mickey Harte, was found strangled on Monday while on honeymoon.
Three men have been charged with murder and are currently remanded in police custody. One of the men charged in connection to the killing of Michaela Harte has confessed to the killing. All three men will return to court next week, when they are expected either to be formally charged or released.
Following the murder of Mrs McAreavey, the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, said he would like to see the country return to using the death penalty in murder cases.
Mrs McAreavey's funeral will be held on Monday in the same church where she married John McAreavey on 30 December.
The Harte and McAreavey families issued a joint statement which said: "As Michaela returns home we respectfully ask for full privacy to allow our two families, united in sorrow, to have the space and time to spend with a much-loved wife, daughter and sister.
"Therefore the wake and private family service on the evening of Friday 14 January will be for immediate family only."
The families added that anyone wishing to pay respects could do so at the family home on Saturday and Sunday.
Requiem Mass for Mrs McAreavey will take place on Monday at 12.30pm at St Malachy's Church, Ballymacilroy.
