Ealing Police Officers Stabbed
Inquiries are currently underway after a Police Officer (PO) and Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) were injured in Ealing. At around 3pm yesterday the officers from Ealing borough received stab wounds whilst on duty. As a result of a revenue collection operation on New Broadway, Ealing west London, the PCSO challenged a man who was behaving suspiciously. The team called for assistance and the man proceeded to attack the officers. Both suffered multiple stab wounds. The PCSO, 27, received treatment at hospital and has been discharged. The PC, 23, remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition. A man aged 30 was arrested at the scene and taken to a north London police station. A knife was recovered at the scene. An incident room has now opened up. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
Iain Ferguson Appointed At Defra
Iain Ferguson has been appointed as Defra’s Lead Non-Executive Director. Iain, who has extensive experience in the private sector including six years as the Chief Executive of Tate and Lyle plc, will sit on the newly created Supervisory Board at Defra to review and monitor performance, finances and risk.Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman said: “I am delighted to welcome Iain as the Lead Non-Executive Director to Defra. As a past member of the Council of Food Policy Advisers he is no stranger to Defra and I am confident that his skills, knowledge and experience will be a great asset to the Department.” The appointment of a lead non-executive to each Department is one of a number of changes announced by the Government in May 2010 to ensure that expertise from outside Government continues to help departments become more business-like. The new Supervisory Board will be chaired by the Secretary of State and will meet on a quarterly basis, bringing together ministers, senior officials and non-executive directors. It will bring together a diversity of views and focus on performance and delivery.

Police Officer Injured In Ealing Attack
A police officer has been injured in an attack in Ealing on Wednesday. Police were called to Cotts Close to reports of an assault. Upon arrival, officers were confronted by a man in his 40s who was armed with a knife. The man attempted to attack the officers with the knife. One male officer received an injury to his leg.

Police Seize Weapon, Drugs And Money In Vehicle Stop
Police have seized a weapon, drugs and large amount of cash during two vehicle stops in Greenford, north west London. The Metropolitan police said armed officers stopped a VW Passat on Ruislip Road, near Ravenor Park, and a Ford Galaxy on the M4 junction with the Windmill Road, at about 18:30 on Sunday 19 April.

Police Search For Missing Mother And Son
Police have issued an urgent appeal to trace a mother and son who have not been seen since Tuesday. Salma Kadri, 29, of Libyan background, and her son Hassan Nasser, 10, were last seen in Ealing between 9pm and 10pm after leaving their home in Paddington on Tuesday afternoon.

Couple Jailed For Abusing Infant
A couple have been jailed for nine years for abusing and torturing a 17-month-old boy. Stepmother Sumairia Parveen, who had walked out on her husband to be with her cousin, abused stepson Tahla Ikram before his death in September 2006. The father, Abid Ikram, 31, received a further 12 months for perverting the court of justice.

Teenager Remanded Over Ealing Riot Murder
A 16-year-old boy charged with the murder of a man who was attacked during riots in Ealing earlier this month has been remanded in custody. Richard Mannington Bowes, 68, was attacked as he attempted to put out a fire in Ealing, west London, during riots there on August 8. Mr Bowes, of Haven Green, Ealing, died three days later.
