Interview With Baby P's Mum Released
An interview with the mother of abused toddler Baby P has now been released.
Filmed just four months before Baby P died at the hands of his mother, her boyfriend and their lodger, it features Tracey Connelly speaking openly about her relationship with social services.
At one point she is clearly heard to say she wished they would "back off and leave her alone".
The footage will be shown for the first time this evening.
The interview was recorded as part of a course being taken by Sue Gilmore from Haringey Council.
In the hour-long video, Ms Gilmore thanks Connelly for being "completely honest" and appears to readily accept her explanation that the child "banged his chin" when he "caught himself on the table".
The video release comes a number of weeks after a north London Coroner ruled that an inquest into the death of Baby Peter will not go ahead.
The toddler was discovered with more than 50 injuries in a blood-splattered cot.
Coroner for the case, Andrew Walker, said any questions surrounding the circumstances of Baby P's death were addressed in previous investigations and therefore there was insufficient cause for a further inquest.
Tracey Connelly, Steven Barker and Barker's brother Jason Owen were jailed for causing or allowing his death.
