Honeymoon Husband 'Plotted Murder'

A court has been told of allegations that the husband of a woman murdered on her honeymoon in South Africa had plotted his own wife's death.

Last month, Shrien and Anni Dewani, both 28, from Bristol, were in a taxi when it was hijacked. Mrs Dewani was shot in the neck, however Mr Dewani was able to escape.

A Cape Town court has now heard Prosecutor Rodney de Kock explain how taxi driver Zola Tongo, 31, was allegedly offered 15,000 rand (£1,500) by Mr Dewani to kill his wife.

Mr Tongo is standing trial for murder after agreeing a plea bargain.

He is charged with the murder of Mrs Dewani along with Xolile Mnguni, 23, and Mziwamadoda Qwabe, 25.
