Appeal Following Robbery In Haringey

Police are appealing for information following a robbery in Haringey, North London in which a man was stabbed and left lying bleeding in the snow.

On Wednesday 1 December at around 7.10pm, a 52 year-old man was walking through the snow across Downhills Park towards Belmont Road when he noticed a group of about seven people wearing dark clothes with their faces covered.

As he continued to walk through the park, the victim was grabbed from behind by a number of suspects and money was demanded from him.

He handed over some cash and started to walk away. However, as he walked away he was again approached from behind and stabbed in his left leg.

The victim collapsed as he tried to make his way out of the park towards the exit near the junction of Belmont Road and Belmont Avenue.

At about 8.00pm a member of public walking her dog found the victim lying bleeding in the snow and called London Ambulance Service.

LAS and police attended and found the man unconscious and suffering from hypothermia, as well as a stab wound to his left leg.

He was taken by LAS to a London hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Detective Sergeant Shaun Carre-Brown said: "Due to the snow, the park would not have been as dark as you might think. If you have information about the incident or perhaps saw this group hanging around the area before or after the attack, which would have taken place between about 7.10pm and 8.00pm hours, please contact us."
