Bolton Striker Arrested

A premiership footballer has been arrested on suspicion of rape.

Bolton Wanderers striker Ivan Klasnic, 30, was arrested on Monday in connection with the rape of a 17-year-old girl in Manchester.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said the teenager was attacked in an apartment in the city centre in the early hours of Monday.

The striker, who also plays for Croatia, has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Stolen Liverpool football memorabilia uncovered
Football memorabilia stolen from the homes of several Liverpool FC players has been recovered by police. The discovery was made following a raid in on a house in the Tuebrook area on Tuesday night. The goods discovered included football shirts, medals and expensive hi-fi equipment.

The 26-year-old Newcastle player was forced to leave the pitch just a minute into England's final group match against Sweden in Cologne on Tuesday night.

West Brom striker jailed over fatal car smash
West Bromwich Albion striker Lee Hughes has been sentenced to six years in prison after being found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving at Coventry Crown Court today. Hughes was found guilty of causing the death of Douglas Graham, a 56-year-old father of four in Meriden, West Midlands, on November 23 last year.

West Brom striker denies road death charge
West Bromwich Albion footballer Lee Hughes pleaded not guilty to causing death by dangerous driving at Coventry Crown Court today. Mr Hughes, a 27-year-old striker for the First Division team, was charged following a fatal collision in Meridien, West Midlands, on November 23 2003.
