Hunt For Robbers Who Dropped Gun
Police in Wigan are hunting for armed robbers who dropped a handgun during a raid on a Leigh convenience store. Around 10:15pm on Saturday, two masked men armed with handguns entered the No 1 store on St Helens Road and ordered the 54-year-old shopkeeper to open the til. He refused and one of the robbers grabbed the till and, in the struggle, a handgun was dropped. Both men then left the store with the till and a quantity of cash. The shopkeeper was shocked, but uninjured. Both the offenders are white - one had a slim build and was wearing a grey two-tone camouflage jacket, a black scarf around his face, black gloves, grey tracksuit bottoms and carrying a black rucksack with white writing. The other was of a medium build and was wearing a dark jumper, black balaclava with black or dark gloves and tracksuit bottoms.
