Charges Over Bristol Burglary Death

Two men have been charged with manslaughter following the death of a woman after a burglary at her home in Bristol. Pauline Reddick, 80, was taken to hospital following the burglary at ther home in Newcombe Road, Stoke Bishop in the early hours of August 17. She had complained of feeling unwell after the incident and died shortly afterwards in hospital. Louis, 18, from Bristol and a 17-year-old man, also from Bristol, are due to appear before Bristol Magistrates Court, charged with manslaughter and burglary. A third man, also aged 17, has been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.

Teenager Killed In Car Ditch Plunge

A 16-year-old boy has died after the car he was travelling in plunged into a ditch in Lincolnshire. Emergency services were called to Midville Road, Stickney, near Boston around 7:50pm on Thursday, where a silver Citroen Xsara had left the road and plunged into a water-filled ditch beside the road. Four people, including the driver, managed to escape the car, but the teenager remained trapped inside. He was rescued by a police officer who swam to the vehicle, but he died later in Boston's Pilgrim Hospital. The driver of the car, a 39-year-old woman, her two-year-old daughter and two other teenage boys, aged 15 and 14, all from Dunmow in Essex were all taken to Pilgrim Hospital for treatment for shock and other, non life-threatening injuries. The toddler, who was suffering from severe shock, was transferred to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham for further treatment. The boy who died was also from Dunmow.Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on: 01522 558855 or: 0300 111 0300.

Man Injured In Northumbria Shooting

Police in Northumbria are appealing for witnesses after a man was injured in a shooting in the Willington Quat area of Wallsend. The 25-year-old was taken to hospital with a suspected gun shot wound to the leg, but has now been released from hospital. Inspector Pam Bridges said: "It is believed that there was a disturbance in the street just before the shooting and police urgently need people who were present to come forward. All information will be treated in the strictest of confidence. Incidents of this nature are rare in this area and police are making sure that all relevant resources will be used to tackle this issue." Reid gives 'green light' for £4bn PFI hospital deal
The 'green light' has been given for 15 new NHS hospital developments in a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) deal worth more than £4 billion, it has been announced today. Today's announcement will bring investment in new NHS hospitals to more than £16 billion since 1997, the health department said.

Man In Hospital After Police Shooting
A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being shot by police in West Yorkshire. The 44-year-old man is being treated in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for gunshot wounds, police have said. Firearms officers responded to a 999 call reporting an incident at a house in Brighouse, near Halifax, west Yorkshire, just after midnight.

Man suspected of police shooting dies in hospital
A 28-year-old Huddersfield man suspected of injuring two detectives in a firearm attack has died in hospital. The man, who has not been named, had been questioned by police officers at the Fleece Inn pub on Elland Road in Ripponden, West Yorkshire, yesterday afternoon.

Police Appeal For Man Missing From Glasgow Hospital
Police Scotland have appealed for help in tracing a man missing from a Glasgow hospital. Iain McHarg, 58, is a patient at Leverndale Hospital in the Pollok area and was last seen at 1330 hours on Tuesday 11 August 2015. He is described as 6'2", heavy build, bald with short grey hair at the sides and stubble.

24 injured in acid attack on Bristol pub
Twenty-four people have been treated in hospital for injuries they received after an acid attack on a pub in Bristol in the early hours of Sunday morning.
