Mystery Woman Found Injured On Tyneside

Northumbria police have appealed for information after a woman was found lying seriously injured on a Tyneside street.

The 40-year-old woman was found on Ellison Street in Hebburn on Monday afternoon. She was taken to hospital, suffering from facial injuries and bleeding on the brain. She remains in hospital, where her condition is described as critical.

Detectives in South Tyneside are now trying to piece together her last movements.

Acting Detective Inspector Sharon Chatterton, from South Tyneside CID, said: "We are trying to establish exactly what has happened to this woman and are appealing for the public's help.

"At the moment, we have witnesses who have seen the woman on the ground, but we need to know what happened prior to this.

"I'd appeal to anyone who has any information on the woman's last movements or anyone who saw her in the Ellison Street area on the afternoon of Monday, August 16, to come forward.

"We are carrying out extensive enquiries to gather as much information on this as possible and would welcome any assistance from the public."

Woman killed in house explosion

Disabled Woman Found Dead In Car
A disabled woman found stabbed to death in her car near her home in Harlow, Essex, has been named. Jennifer Macaree was discovered in Hadley Grange on the outskirts of Harlow early on Saturday. Essex Police confirmed she was in the driver's seat of her black Vauxhall Corsa in a parking area near her flat shortly after 3am.

Road Victim Was Police Officer
A South Tyneside policeman has been named as the victim of a road crash in Co Durham at the weekend. Pc Neil Gartland, of the Northumbria force, died on the A19 on Friday night when about 30 vehicles were involved in a number of separate collisions.
