Birthday Appeal On Gloucestershire Murder
Police investigating the murder of an elderly man in South Gloucestershire have launched a fresh appeal for information on what would have been his 69th birthday.
Barry Rubery was found dead at his home on the Latteridge Road in Iron Action on April 29.
Mr Rubery, who had been out for dinner with friends the previous evening, had suffered serious head injuries and he had been tied up with electrical wire.
Appealing for information, his granddaughter Shauna Rubery said: "Today would have been my gramps 69th birthday. Birthdays are very special in our family so I would always go to see him on his birthday. He would love to see us and we would love to make his day special for him. We can't do that anymore and that makes us all very sad. Please help to catch those responsible, my gramps didn't deserve this."
Detective Chief Inspector Garry Reeves, who is leading the investigation, said: "Barry Rubery needlessly lost his life following this brutal crime. We are determined to find the people responsible for his death and we will continue to search for further information.
"I would urge anyone out there with information to contact us. It does not matter how small that piece of information is, or how insignificant you may feel it is, call us and let us decide."
A £10,000 reward is being offered by Crimestoppers for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Barry's murder.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on: 0117 945 4057 or Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111.
