Tourist In Coma After Balcony Fall
A young British tourist is critically ill in hospital in Ibiza after falling from a hotel balcony.
Ryan Elley, 20, from Portsmouth, Hampshire, suffered bleeding on the brain after falling two storeys at Jet Apartments in Playa d'en Bossa on Sunday.
He has been placed in a medical coma in Son Dureta hospital in Palma, Majorca.
Mr Elley is understood to have travelled on a spur-of-the-moment trip to the Spanish island to meet friends on holiday there.
His family are understood to be facing a £15,000 bill for an air ambulance to fly him back to the UK, as he did not take out medical insurance before his trip.

Inflation At 5% But Expected To Drop 'Sharply'
This month's official inflation figures are still more than double the 'target rate' of 2%, although it is expected to drop "sharply", according to the Bank of England. The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) in the UK fell slightly to 5% during October, down from a rate of 5.2% the month before.

Third annual fall recorded in migration to UK
The number of people migrating to the UK has fallen for the third year running, according to statistics released today. New international migration estimates published today by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) found that overall 151,000 more people migrated to the UK than leaving it in 2003.

The 'green light' has been given for 15 new NHS hospital developments in a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) deal worth more than £4 billion, it has been announced today. Today's announcement will bring investment in new NHS hospitals to more than £16 billion since 1997, the health department said.

Child killed in holiday fall
An eight-year-old girl has died after falling down a gorge at a beauty spot in the Scottish Highlands. The child is believed to have been walking with her parents and two sisters at the Steall waterfall, Glen Nevis, when the incident happened around 6:30pm on Tuesday evening.
