Northern Ireland Seaside Bombing Fails
An undercar booby trap bomb has been found in the driveway of an Army officer's home in Bangor, Co Down this morning.
The device fell off the vehicle on Wednesday morning and was found by the officer and between 20 and 30 houses in the Chatworth area of the town were evacuated.
NI Policing Board Acting Chair Brian Rea has condemned the attempt to kill the Army Major: "Those who planted the bomb this morning could have killed or injured anyone and I strongly condemn them for it.
"There is no room for this type of attack in a society that overwhelmingly wants to work together to deliver peace and stability. Anyone with information should bring it to the attention of the police."
Last night, Army technical officers also carried out a controlled explosion on a suspicious vehicle abandoned in the Co Antrim costal village of Cushendall.
A number of houses were evacuated on Tuesday while the car left at Moyle View was examined, but a police spokesperson said nothing had been found.

Policeman 'Serious' After NI Bombing
A policeman has been taken to hospital after a bomb exploded under his car in Co Antrim this morning. The victim of the early morning car bomb attack was rushed to hospital soon after the blast which exploded under a car, the police have confirmed. It is understood he sustained serious injuries to his pelvis.

Ingram announces TA changes
The government has announced a number of changes to the make-up of the Territorial Army. The changes will include the introduction of over 1,600 more engineers, 400 more Royal Armoured Corps and 400 more Army Air Corps and more Intelligence Corps.

Inquiry Into Pirbright Army Recruit Death
A 29-year-old man who was found hanged at an army camp in Surrey has been identified as Anthony Manuel Jose Hernandez. Mr Hernandez, from High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire, was found at the Alexander Barracks at Pirbright Army camp on Sunday. He had died just before 8am, despite attempts by the ambulance service to resuscitate him.

Man Found Guilty Of Letter Bombing Campaign
A primary school caretaker has been found guilty at Oxford Crown Court of conducting a nationwide letter bomb campaign, which left eight people injured. Miles Cooper, 27, from Cambridge had denied 12 charges related to seven letter bombs, which were sent to businesses around the country in January and February.

The death toll of a suicide bombing close to Moscow's Red Square has risen six, according to reports emerging from the Russian capital today. The explosion occurred this morning outside the National Hotel, only a few hundred metres away from the Kremlin, which houses the Russian parliament.
