Tobin Questioned Over Sex Crime
Convicted serial killer Peter Tobin has been questioned by police in Edinburgh in connection with serious sexual crimes in Scotland, it has emerged.
It is understood that Tobin, who is currently serving life sentences for the murders of three women - Angelika Kluk, Vicky Hamilton and Dinah MacNicol - was taken from Saughton Prison yesterday to be questioned by police.
According to reports, he was questioned for more than ten hours at St Leonards police station as part of Operation Anagram, which is examining Tobin's background to see if he is connected to any unsolved crimes.
A search at one of Tobin's former homes in Brighton ended this week after no evidence of any crimes was found.
Another search, at a property in Portslade, also ended last week without discovery of any evidence of any crimes.
Tobin was first convicted of murder in 2007, when he was found guilty of the rape and murder of Polish student Angelika Kluk. The 23-year-old's body was found under the floor of St Patrick's Church in Glasgow, where she had worked as a cleaner. Tobin had been working as a handyman at the church at the time.
The following year, the bodies of Vicky Hamilton and Dinah MacNicol were found in the garden of Tobin's former home in Margate, Kent. Vicky, 15, from Redding, near Falkirk, was last seen in February 1991 waiting on a bus near Tobin's then home in Bathgate, West Lothian, while Dinah, 18, from Tillingham, Essex, was last seen in August 1991, hitchhiking home from a festival in Hampshire.
Tobin was found guilty of Vicky's murder in December 2008 and Dinah's murder in December 2009.
