Man And Woman Killed In School Bus Crash

Two adults have been killed after a school coach crashed into two cars.

Two other people were also seriously injured in the collision.

The accident happened at around 4pm yesterday evening on the A4177 between Hatton and Hatton Park on the outskirts of Warwick.

The school bus was carrying about 21 school children from Ayleford and Myton schools.

A 16-year-old school boy was airlifted to hospital after he was knocked unconscious in the crash.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "Crews arrived at the scene to find a school bus and a car which had been involved in a collision. The bus also collided with a tree. Both vehicles sustained very significant damage in the crash. The second car was not at the scene.

"Two adults suffered significant multiple injuries in the crash and were both confirmed dead at the scene.

"A woman from the car sustained chest and abdominal injuries and was transferred by land ambulance to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

"A 16 year old boy from the bus was flown to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further assessment and treatment after reportedly being knocked unconscious in the crash. The fire service, under the clinical supervision of ambulance staff, worked quickly to release the boy from the wreckage whilst treatment continued.

"A further 20 children from the bus were taken to a place of safety nearby away from the crash scene where they were triaged by crews and medics. Of the 20, four children suffered minor injuries and were transferred by PTS vehicle to Warwick Hospital. The remaining 16 children were discharged at the scene."
